The Waiting Game...

Ahh, the last two weeks of being pregnant. The random contractions. The kicks in the ribs. Trips to the hospital in the middle of the night. Such fun. We had two false alarm trips with Joshua and I was determined not to get fooled this time around. Well, no such luck. Monday I had been having crampy contractions for about 15 hours and started to get worried, so I drove myself to the hospital at 3:00 am Tuesday. After monitoring me for a while, they still couldn't tell whether I was really in labor or not, so they recommended I stay and "catch up on my sleep"....seeing as it was 6 am and I'd been up since before 2. By the time I woke up at noon, the contractions had stopped, so I came home. But, progress has been made...will this little guy come this week?! Who knows! Guess we have to just wait and see.

The Scene of the Crime...

This afternoon, here is what I discovered. The scene of the crime:
And the popcorn-eating perpetrator! Notice the mud all over the bottom of his shirt...
The perpetrator and his dangerous cohort are now detoxing in the bathtub. :)

Since the weather has been nice (at least for three days in between rain storms!), the boys have been outside a lot. Yesterday, they decided to try their hand at gardening. They "planted" flowers and were so proud of their accomplishment. Although, fortunately, they seemed aware that their method wasn't going to result in long-term success. Nonetheless, their enthusiasm was quite cute.

Here is Joshua "watering" the flowers with mud. :)

Excitement

While Caleb remains rather ambivalent about the impending arrival of the new baby, Joshua is getting very excited. Today he has been talking about the baby a lot. He's always asking if the baby is "movin'" and wants to feel my stomach. He has also said several times today that when the baby pops out, he is going to hold him "berry, berry carefully so he doesn't break". The last time he said that, it was followed by the biggest grin and then he crossed his arms into the "baby holding" position...so cute!!

Baby Shower!

Today several of my girlfriends hosted (at our house) a lunch in honor of upcoming baby #3. What a fun time we had! I felt very loved as about 20 of my friends came to join the celebration. And we had lots of yummy food. :) Of course I "had" to make my own cake, but it was worth it...a chocoholics dream! And thanks to Megan, we have some nice pictures to remember the day by as well. :)

The food, before we dug in! It was funny to see Josh "scoping" it out. :)

The super-chocolatey cake...yum!

Lots of diapers! Gonna need those! :)

My friends who organized this!

Thanks to everyone who made this such a fun day! I appreciate all of you!!

No He Didn't!!

Yesterday the boys were talking about names that are not names (like "Ruffie") and names that are (like Thomas). This led into Caleb stating that there are two Thomases in the Bible. Only being familiar with one off the top of my head, I asked who they were. "Thomas, Jesus' disciple and Thomas from "King George"," Caleb replies. (King George is a VeggieTales video about selfishness). We had to tell Caleb that the Thomas from King George was made up and that he represented a man whose real name was Uriah. So then Caleb wanted to know what King George stole from Uriah/Thomas (in the video he steals his rubber ducky even though he already has hundreds). So, I told Caleb that King George also wasn't real and that he represented King David, the guy who killed Goliath, and that King David stole Uriah's wife and then had Uriah killed. The look on Caleb's face was priceless. He said, "the David that killed Goliath? No he didn't!!" Yep, sorry, he DID. Ahhh...the humanizing of a hero.

Wouldn't You Know??

So ALL winter Joshua was "Mr. I'll wear socks ONLY when wearing shoes despite the fact it's 20 degrees outside and my feet are freezing". All winter. I'd feel his feet when he was running around the house and ask him "aren't your feet cold?" (Which they obviously were). "Nope", he'd always say. Last week, he suddenly decided he wants to wear socks 24/7. In April. When it's 60 outside. Go figure. I guess that's kids for you...

Procrastinating

I have much to do, but yes, am procrastinating! I am being productive. For example, today, after a month of working, I finally finished our photo albums and they look great! I washed bed linens and remade the beds. I am just not working on the things I have the soonest deadlines for...like cleaning my house for the meeting I am hosting tonight. :) Sound familiar? Oh well. So, so that you too will benefit from my procrastination, I am posting a couple pictures that my friend Megan took last weekend. You can go to this link to see the rest. www.jmhudson.com/hines Didn't she do an awesome job?? :)
