4th of July Adventures

We took a "spur of the moment trip" to North Carolina to visit my family over the 4th of July. We were able to go for a whole week, so that made the long-ish drive (6.5-7 hours) worth it. The boys had a great time with their Aunt, Uncle and Grandparents. Joshua's favorite activity was playing Air Hockey with Uncle Tim, but Caleb's favorite, by far, was swimming in the pool. My parents had a life jacket which enabled Caleb to float without assistance, so he quickly learned to "swim" in it. He had a blast swimming from one end of the pool to the other, twirling in circles and doggy-paddling around everybody. He even participated in our game of "pool baseball" (a Kroboth family classic) and took a flying leap off the diving board with Philip. We hadn't even been on the road 30 minutes to come home when Caleb announced that he couldn't wait until we went back to visit them again so he could swim some more! :)

Both boys also had a blast seeing all the hummingbirds and other birds that fed outside the kitchen window, as well as hearing many animal stories from Grandma. We also took a trip to the Charlotte Nature Museum, where the boys got to help feed the turtles, see (but not smell!) a skunk and other small mammals, snakes, and owls.



On Sunday, we tried to shoot a family picture since we were dressed in nice coordinating colors. It would have been a great picture were it not for the fact it was sprinkling, Caleb was having a tantrum and wouldn't smile and Andrew was screaming because he was hungry!
