Happy Birthday...to ME! :)

At 6:02 this morning something momentous happened...I turned 28. :) And I missed the grand occasion. Andrew didn't awake me until 6:04. Hahaha... I was able to celebrate my birthday early with my family in NC with a yummy chocolate mousse cake...mmmmm....that Deborah and I decorated together.
We are now in Pennsylvania with Philip's family and will be celebrating my birthday with the whole family today...after I go make some more chocolate cake! (Can you tell I love this cake??!)

This morning while I was hanging out with Andrew, I was thinking about how my mom must have felt 28 years ago holding me as a newborn, and I was reminded of the baby I lost last February that was due on my birthday last year. It was sad to think about, but I am so thankful that God gave us THIS little guy. It was the best gift. :)

Fun With Family

The visit to NC was the first time my parents got to meet Andrew. It was good timing, as he started smiling around 6 weeks and cooing around 6-7 weeks. It's very cute! He's extremely "talkative" and loves it when someone gets in his face for a chat. I had a great time because my brother and dad (in particular) LOVE to eat everything I make, so I was cooking and baking up a storm while there. Ahhhh.... :)

We also had a great visit with Great Grandma Kroboth...who looked fabulous!

4th of July Adventures

We took a "spur of the moment trip" to North Carolina to visit my family over the 4th of July. We were able to go for a whole week, so that made the long-ish drive (6.5-7 hours) worth it. The boys had a great time with their Aunt, Uncle and Grandparents. Joshua's favorite activity was playing Air Hockey with Uncle Tim, but Caleb's favorite, by far, was swimming in the pool. My parents had a life jacket which enabled Caleb to float without assistance, so he quickly learned to "swim" in it. He had a blast swimming from one end of the pool to the other, twirling in circles and doggy-paddling around everybody. He even participated in our game of "pool baseball" (a Kroboth family classic) and took a flying leap off the diving board with Philip. We hadn't even been on the road 30 minutes to come home when Caleb announced that he couldn't wait until we went back to visit them again so he could swim some more! :)

Both boys also had a blast seeing all the hummingbirds and other
birds that fed outside the kitchen window, as well as hearing many animal stories from Grandma. We also took a trip to the Charlotte Nature Museum, where the boys got to help feed the turtles, see (but not smell!) a skunk and other small mammals, snakes, and owls.

On Sunday, we tried to shoot a family picture since we were dressed in nice coordinating colors. It would have been a great picture were it not for the fact it was sprinkling, Caleb was having a tantrum and wouldn't smile and Andrew was screaming because he was hungry!
